Regional Training Center
We are located close to the center region of Mexico, in the state of Jalisco. The city of Autlán has a population of around 120,000. This area has put more and more importance on education and has a university of about 5,000 students and keeps expanding all the time. Traditionally this has been a poor area but there is a rapidly growing middle class due to money coming from relatives working in the United States. There is also a population of various indigenous people groups who are migrant workers. They speak their own languages and live in poverty. Roman Catholicism is the predominant religion with Evangelical Christianity considered to be a cult. On a side note, Autlán is famous for being the birthplace of legendary guitar player Carlos Santana.
The RTC is an ideal place for short-term mission teams or interns to stay, study and serve. We can house up to 70 people if all rooms are used, but most groups are 30 people or less and they fit very comfortably into this facility.
There are several options for meals:
- Bring your own cook and your teams shops, prepares the meals, and provides the clean-up crew. The general rule is to plan on spending about $12 a day per person (This allows for 1 or 2 meals to be eaten out on the town).
- Hire a Mexican lady to cook for the team. This gives you more of a cultural experience and saves time if the ministry demands are high. (Price is negotiated).
- Purchase meals on the go. This puts you in contact with the local culture. It will probably be a little more expensive but the least hassle.
Transportation
We use all means of transportation available in this area:
- Airlines
- Buses
- Taxis
- Rental or personal vehicles

Fun Day Break
Many teams who are here for a week or longer reserve one day for relaxation and/or debriefing. Day trips include the fantastic beaches or a trip to the local waterpark, Guadalajara, or Manzanillo. We encourage these trips as a “chance of a lifetime” for your team members. The shopping and the cultural learning opportunities are incredible. Most prefer to do this after leaving, but we can accommodate whatever fits your schedule.
